Since its founding 150 years ago, the hospital was expanded several times and rebuilt and therefore includes several buildings that were built in different decades. As part of the master plan, the complex was renovated and extended in three phases during operation. The first phase consisted of the renovation of a new surgical area with two operating rooms, according to the latest medical standards, as well as the establishment of a new nursing station. In the second phase a wake-up and holding area was established. In the 3rd phase an intensive care unit was built. In the course of the renovation and general fire safety and security measures were built and the staff changing rooms, offices and meeting areas were expanded. The facade including windows were replaced to significantly reduce the heating and cooling demand and improve comfort for the patients.
